Craving for Sugar?

Are you Craving for Sugar/Salt?

If yes, its probably because your blood sugar levels are dropping↓ and the brain gets the signal from the liver that it’s time to eat again!! That’s why you feel like you are starving and start craving for some sugar/salt.

Reasons Why This Happens

ADRENAL FATIGUE :

Adrenals are glands that sit atop the kidneys and control your sleep-wake cycle, metabolism, hormonal balance and inflammatory processes. They are weakened by stress, too much coffee and lack of sleep. They eventually burn out from pumping out hormones like cortisol and adrenaline in response to these factors. Over time, this disrupts SODIUM and POTASSIUM balance in the body.

ZINC AND MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY

This is caused by not eating enough or not eating balanced food through out the day.

STRESS AND UNSTABLE BLOOD SUGAR

What Can You Do To Fix It?

  • Start your day with proteins and fats and complex carbs such as: eggs, chicken, avocado, oats, smoothies.
  • Have snacks in between the meals. For example, handful of nuts, apiece of fruit, celery or carrots with hummus or natural peanut butter.
  • Eat fibre rich food because healthy fibres take time to digest. They keep you satiated for a longer duration of time and also help in reducing sugar cravings. Some examples of high fibre foods are: brown rice, wholemeal bread or pasta or flat bread, quinoa, green vegetables and cauliflower rice

Just remember, it’s very important to eat in right proportion in regular intervals with snacks in between the main meals.

Hope this helps!
